| - Rayzd is a 6 person pop / jazz / hip hop band from Bellerose, New York formed by Joey Cavaseno. Formerly called G-Clef and da Houndz, Rayzd is self-defined as "a blended jazz-oriented phoenix that rose from the ashes of the Swing Revival of the turn of the millennium." It's produced by the independent label Yalloppin Records. Rayzd was formed in 2002 from the group G-Clef and da Houndz by leader "G-Clef", also known as Joey Cavaseno, Amadeus Melchizedek, and Joe Aton. The band began their new experiment doing sporadic college shows (at Rutgers, Bowdoin, Bates, Amherst, etc.) while working on exactly what kind of musical statement would be made as they departed from their "modern swing" roots. Their first album, Fear is the Mind Killer, was released in 2003; the name of the album was a direct reference to author Frank Herbert's Sci-Fi classic Dune. Their second album, released in 2004, was entitled Just Fade Away: Music of Cowboy Bebop and Other sounds for the Otaku and was considered[citation needed] one of the first serious interpretations of otaku culture's best music, most notably Japanese composer Yoko Kanno (Cowboy Bebop/Escaflowne), as well as others. Rayzd was influenced by a multitude of bands and personalities including Wu-Tang Clan, Radiohead, Björk, Portishead, Kool Keith, Rakim, Sun Ra, Jaco Pastorius, Soul Kid Klik, and Yalloppin' Hounds, among others.
