Antiochus Philadelphus Caesar Augusts or Antiochus XIV (20 October 30 BC - 44 February AD) was the second member of the Argead-Ptolemaic dynasty of Diadochia. He succeeded his brother Ptolemy I in 35 AD and reigned until his death. In his youth Antiochus was a great general but when he became Emperor he was well into his old age he became a reclusive and somber ruler that lived a life of debauchery. He ruled the empire for almost a decade but he actually never wished to be emperor; he succeeded his brother solely because he was the eldest living male.
