The aid another action is a standard action that allows a character to grant a bonus to a skill or ability check made by another character.[PH:287][RC:128] The character chooses an adjacent target, and makes a skill check or ability check against DC 10 + one-half the character's level. If the character's check succeeds, before the end of the character's next turn, the next time the target makes the same skill or ability check, the target receives a +2 bonus to the check.

If the character's check fails, before the end of the character's next turn, the next time the target makes the same skill or ability check, the target receives a −1 penalty to the check. Whether successful or not, a single character cannot use the aid another action to affect the same check more than once. Under normal circumstances, up to four characters can each use an aid another action to affect the same check. Characters with the Disciple of Law feat gain a +5 bonus to the aid another check, and if successful, grant a +3 instead of +2 bonus to the target's check.
