  • Avatars Reloaded was a forum contest organized by Orsino to create replacement avatars for the stock images that came with mvnForum. When the Y!PP forums switched platfroms from phpBB to mvnForum, users were given a handful of stock options to choose from. These images were all un-piratey and many regular forum-goers complained regularly. With this contest, artists were asked to create new avatars that could replace the old images. There were four categories to enter (pirates, scenery, puzzles, and miscellaneous) and artists were divided into two divisions, amateur and professional; the latter being any artist who had received material compensation for their artwork before. Artists had three weeks to submit their entries for judging. Following that, a panel of judges selected their three favorites from each category and division. Each winner received a portrait easel in addition to having their artwork installed as the new pre-defined avatars on the forum. The top vote-getter in each category/division also received a navy/gold ribbon trinket.
