Outposts can be found often in the game map. When the player finds one, he can purchase weapons, defense, intelligence, security, and radar upgrades for a price. As the player purchases more upgrades, the more costly the upgrade will be. For example, a level 1 upgrade may cost a mere 200 MD, while a level 6 upgrade will cost 2000 MD. The price increases for every category as upgrades in the same category are purchased. For example, if the player has level 4 defense and level 5 weapon, and has enough Mars Dollars to purchase the level 6 weapon upgrade and decides to, the weapon upgrade price will increase while the level 4 defense upgrade price stays the same.

  • The outpost is one of the most important units in the game and can be built only with the priest. Building it on an unowned island will give you control of that island and then let you bridge off that island. Creating units nearby will also become faster because the energy will flow from it rather than all the way from your workshop. They also act as drop-off points for Storm Crystals thereby making collecting faster, giving you more Storm Power with which to defeat your enemy. --- Sudden Death 23:55, 17 April 2006 (BST)
  • Outposts within the three systems of New Israel have populations of up to a few thousand each. Within the NI systems there are several enclaves of co-displaced Druze (totaling about 150,000 in the E-Indi and Naveh systems), with similar relations with the state as in the late 20th century (voting rights, military service, etc.). Several joint Japanese-Israeli techno/industrial/corporate arcologies were established near the first Gan settlements and are still active today.

  • Having just emerged from refuge in the Prime Roots, hominkind spread across the New Lands with hopes of rebuilding the civilizations lost to the Great Swarming. Within a few years, a multitude of outposts had been established in the wilderness to protect these regions, provide resources, and facilitate trade and growth of homin settlements. Several factors, however, such as the arrival of Kitins in 2490 and growing tension among the homin races, led to the outposts' abandonment by 2494. Fifty years later, both the Karavan and Kami offered homins the chance to reclaim some of the decrepit outposts for the purpose of aquiring the precious resources beneath the planet's surface. Today, guilds may either confront each other in battle or negotiate peacefully in order to obtain and manage an outpost.

A number of small Christian and benign Islamic communities exist within NI, but non-Jewish population does not exceed 3% of the total.
