Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse is an NES video game initially released on December 22, 1989 in Japan. It stars, once more, a member of the Belmont family, this time the protagonist being Trevor Belmont, an ancestor of Simon Belmont. It's a prequel to the two other NES games in the series, and remains one of the most beloved that the franchise has to offer. This game was also later released on the Wii Virtual Console in Europe on October 31, 2008 and in North America on January 12, 2009.

Originalmente fue publicado en Japón en el año 1989 para el periférico Famicom Disk System de Nintendo y en América del Norte para la plataforma Nintendo Entertainment System en el año 1990. En Europa fue publicado por Palcom Software recién en el año 1992. Según el manual de instrucciones del videojuego, toma lugar en el año 1476, 215 años antes de los acontecimientos de los videojuegos anteriores Castlevania y Castlevania II: Simon's Quest. Muchos de los personajes y elementos introducidos por primera vez en el videojuego se convertirían en pilares fundamentales de la saga.
