She then signed on as a designer for Victoria Secret for two months, after which she began working in motion pictures and television. Carpenter has been working in the film industry since 2004. She was a costume designer trainee on the 2005 romantic comedy Must Love Dogs, which featured Christopher Plummer and Brad William Henke in the cast. She then designed custom-made costumes for the 2005 comedy Monster-in-Law before working as a costume production assistant on the Pirates of the Caribbean sequels, Dead Man's Chest (2006) and At World's End (2007), both featuring Lee Arenberg. Also in 2005, Carpenter co-designed the costumes for the Hallmark made-for-TV movie Mystery Woman: Wild West Mystery. She then co-designed the costumes for the next entry in the Mystery Woman series, Oh Baby. Both of these productions starred Star Trek: Deep Space Nine guest actor Clarence Williams III. In addition to Star Trek, Carpenter's film credits as a costumer include The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006) and Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story (2007). She was also a day playing (a non-contracted, day-to-day working) costumer on such films as Paramount Pictures' The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008, featuring Spencer Daniels) and The Soloist (2009, featuring Stephen Root). Carpenter has been a costumer on several television series, as well. She worked on the third and fourth seasons of the popular drama The O.C. as well as the second season of NBC's Heroes, which, like Star Trek, starred Zachary Quinto in addition to featuring actors such as Dominic Keating, Nichelle Nichols, and George Takei. Carpenter is currently a costumer on NBC's action/comedy series Chuck, which is being produced by Star Trek: Voyager regular Robert Duncan McNeill.
