An Entity of Type : dbkwik:resource/_GI49ekylCH9W99eFHkwLw==, within Data Space : 134.155.108.49:8890 associated with source dataset(s)

The 2016 Atlantic Classmate Names Season featured record activity, with 27 named storms (plus 1 unnamed tropical storm that was identified in the post-analysis), 22 hurricanes, and 20 major hurricanes developing from June to December of this season. However, if the storms that developed in the East Pacific time are included, the season total will be brought up to 32 named storms (note that if the unnamed storm is included, the total will be 33), which would increase the already extreme record of 28 that was already tied by this year, beating the old record by 5 storms. This season also featured the first Category 6 after the WMO introduced it on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale due to increasingly stronger storms developing more frequently.
