Corcoran began his National Hockey League career with the Boston Bruins in 1949 and also played with the Detroit Red Wings and Chicago Black Hawks. He left the NHL following the 1956 season and retired from hockey in 1966. He played junior hockey for the St. Michaels Majors and the St Catharines TeePees and signed as a free agent with the Boston Bruins in 1950. Corcoran only played in eight games for the Bruins before being traded as part of a nine player trade in 1955 to the Detroit Red Wings. He continued in the minor pros until his retirement in 1966.
