Target drones were used by Luke Skywalker to distract the Imperial forces blockade on the planet of Harix and allow him along with Han Solo, Chewbacca and a large fleet of freighters to land on the planet undetected. Each individual drone was modified to project a false signature of itself and as a result it would show up on most sensors as a ship much larger than it actually was. Conducting her experiments aboard the USS Defiant, Doctor Kahn's procedure involved launching the drone, which would then send out a magneton pulse to react with a subspace tensor matrix to create an opening in the spacetime continuum. The magneton pulse created a feedback loop which destroyed the drone, but not before successfully creating a short-lived wormhole. (DS9: "Rejoined")
