The Hyenadon, also known as HYENA in the NES version, is an enemy in the original Final Fantasy. These enemies are slightly difficult to defeat, having higher HP than most monsters in their general area, and sometimes appear in large groups. If the player is fighting them near Melmond, they may have some trouble dealing with a large pack of Hyenadons, however, they are easier in the Mount Gulg because the player's party should be stronger at that point. They also appear in the Cavern of Earth guarding a chest.
