The cause of Camilla's scream is not clear, but like the cause of the outburst, though, is probably to do with the horrifying revelation that The Stranger in the Pallid Mask, who has recently arrived at the Masquerade taking place in Scene 2 of Act 1, in fact wears "no mask". It is referenced in the poem An Eternal Cry.
