By 18 ABY, he held a controlling share of both Hoersch-Kessel Drive and Killian Arms. He then struck a deal with Neimoidian president Lork Durd, agreeing to procure the old Techno Union patents and gather them in a single company, which Durd would later buy 40% of. Killian had his agents ask around discretely, keeping as little publicity on the attempt as could be had.
