Epinephrine, also known as adrenaline, is a hormone that is important to the body's metabolism. Heightened secretion of epinephrine from the adrenal gland is caused by fear or anger and it prepares the body to meet emergencies such as cold, fatigue, and shock by increasing heart rate and the hydrolysis of glycogen to glucose. This reaction, often called the "fight or flight" response, prepares the body for strenuous activity. Epinephrine is used medicinally in cardiac arrest to stimulate heart rate. It is also used to treat bronchial asthma, acute allergic reactions, emphysema and the treatment of the eye disease glaucoma.

  • Epinephrine was a powerful drug that had the ability to help revive humans after a period of apparent death. It worked by raising the blood pressure level. ("Day 2: 11:00am-12:00pm")
  • Epinephrine was a chemical neurotransmitter present in the brains of most animals, including Humans and other Humanoid species. Doctor Jo Stern noted elevated levels of epinephrine and several other neurotransmitters in Ven Kaldarren when he was "possessed" by Uramtali, one of the dithparu discovered trapped within the Well of Souls.
