One winter's day in Dobuita, Japan, Lan Di arrived in town in the back of a black car. Pulling up outside of Iwao Hazuki's home, Lan Di quickly threw student Fuku out of the house and turned his attentions to the warrior. The fighter from China was able to dodge all blows from Hazuki before landing a fatal blow of his own, striking Iwao in the chest. As Iwao died, Lan Di spoke to him, asking if he remembered that Zhao Sun Ming was the person he killed in Meng Cun. He then stole the Dragon Mirror and left, having never noticed the presence of Ryo Hazuki.
