| - In Murserist theology, the preeminence of man is the doctrine that as the only intelligent beings in the universe, humanity has a divinely endowed right to reign supreme over the world and universe within Setogh's will. This, according to Murserist doctrine, gives humans the right to use any natural resources in order to further humanity's survival and advancement as well as the resources of all other celestial bodies. The foundations for this doctrine are found in interpretations the following passage in which Setogh tells Mursa Kolaan "Uniqueness defines humanity, as it is the wisest child of mine, however flawed" (Kirvia 7:33:4). Murserist theologians have accepted this to mean that humans are the only intelligent beings in the universe, which has many implications beyond man's supremacy, including the widespread rejection of the existence of intelligent extraterrestrial life within the Muserist community. The doctrine has faced criticism, particularly from environmentalists, who believe it attempts justify the destruction of wildlife habitats and ecosystems, and animal rights advocates, who believe it excuses animal abuse and mistreatment and promotes an apathetic sentiment towards the extinction of endangered species.
