Required qualifications include: Ph.D. in hand by the time of the appointment, with a specialization in queer studies; discipline open. A successful candidate will show promise as a dedicated, charismatic teacher with an interest in mentoring student projects that are often highly interdisciplinary in nature. We also expect evidence of strong potential for innovative scholarship and/or artistic practice. A demonstrated record of working with diverse students and faculty, particularly LGBTQ students, and a demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity are required. Hampshire is part of the Five College Consortium (including Amherst, Mt Holyoke, and Smith Colleges and the University of Massachusetts). The Pioneer Valley has long been considered one of the most welcoming and inclusive places in the country for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people, and this positive climate attracts many LGBT and LGBT-supportive students, staff, and faculty to the Five Colleges.
