The Attack on the Misty Lady was an attempt of the British fleet led by Admiral Lawrence Norrington to capture the notorious pirate captain Edward Teague, Keeper of the Code. The joint forces of the British Royal Navy and the East India Trading Company searched for Teague in the Caribbean for months, until they managed to capture Teague, his pirate ship the Misty Lady, Teague's whole crew, and his young son, Jack Sparrow. Their success was the result of the betrayal of Jack's untrustworthy crewmember, Fitzwilliam P. Dalton III, who was actually a Royal Navy spy. All of the pirates were imprisoned on Lawrence Norrington's ship, and the admiral steered his ship for Tortuga, intending to hang his prisoners before the eyes of the whole pirate community. But the pirates managed to free themselv

But the pirates managed to free themselves with the help of Teague's old friend Joshamee Gibbs. After a massive cannon fight between the Lady and Norrington's vessel, Teague's crew managed to batter Norrington's ship, rendering it defenseless. With Norrington's crew defeated, Teague and Jack made their way back to the Lady, and sailed off.
