David Toscana (Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico, 1961) is a Mexican author. He did his basic studies in the Instituto Americano de Monterrey (AIM). Previously, he graduated as Ingeniero Industrial and from Sistemas in the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM). He commenced writing at 29 years of age. His literary influences include the Spanish classics Cervantes and Calderón de la Barca and the Latin American writers Juan Carlos Onetti and José Donoso. In 1994 he formed part of the International Writers Program, in the University of Iowa, and the Berliner Künstlerprogramm.
