The Governor of Scoita is the Chief Executive of the state of Scoita, and the person in whose name the government acts. The Scoitan Governor is, like other Governors both in Georgeland and elsewhere, mostly a figurehead. However, the Governor of Scoita is more powerful than other Georgeland governors. His veto power over legislation cannot be overridden by the legislature, and he can appoint judges to the Supreme Court without legislative approval. The Governor of Scoita is directly elected by the state's residents, for a renewable four-year term. Unlike many state governors, the Governor is permitted to stand for and represent a political party. By convention, however, candidates stand as independents and have their party memberships made 'inactive' for their term of office.
