The Second Sino-Japanese War was a military conflict fought between the Republic of China and the Empire of Japan. In its first stage (1937-1940) the war develop in the zones of Manchuria, Beijing and Shanghai, establishing the Japanese the Chinese State Union n the said areas. In a second stage (1940-1944) it was carried in the zones near Hong Kong, Guangzhou ad Hainan. By 1942 the Japanese embarked on a full deployment of chemical and bacteriological weapons. China started to receive economic aid and war material from Federation of Socialist Republics and the United States in 1939.

After the Japanese attack on the Philippines and East Indies (1942), the war merged into the greater conflict of the Great Pacific War, becoming China one of its major fronts. The Japanese Revolution (1946) marked the end of the war, has Japanese troops rapidly returned to their homeland in order to support the revolution. This de facto armistice left the Chinese armies in full control of their territories. The Second Sino-Japanese War was the largest Asian war in the 20th century. It also made up more than 50% of the casualties in the Great Pacific War. A year later, it would began the People's Liberation War.
