- Black Lion (no real name known) is a hero who defeats the White Knight in 1966 and hauls him off to prison. He sends the White Knight's helmet to Whateley for the Homer Gallery once Whateley becomes a going concern.
- George Davis, a very successful (and therefore bored) big game hunter, decides to go after the most dangerous game and begins hunting criminals. He is never specifically said to have superpowers, but the stories show him surviving otherwise mortal wounds in superhuman fashion. He is cat-like in his agility and strength and is a good fighter. He is helped by his side-kick, Cub. Black Lion battled Blitz, the notorious super-criminal.
- The first Rapier squadron in TCS Tiger's Claw was designated Black Lion Squadron. In early part of 2654, Tanaka Mariko was the flight leader of the Black Lions. She flew the aging CF-117 Rapiers. Under her command was Jennifer Leiby.
- Inspired in Satsujinsha, one of Go Nagai's first works, this violent period piece takes place in the 1500s and stars a talented low ranking ninja named Shishimaru. In it, Shishimaru fights against Ginnai Doma (an immortal samurai who, despite being butchered multiple times, doesn't die) because Ginnai murdered his comrades. Despite being set in historical times, it has machine guns, lasers, robots, and atomic reactors with no real explaination for the first bit of the film. It was made into an anime and released in Japan in 1992 November 21 and in the 00's in America.

A montage of the highlights of the anime (its gory to the point of comedy and all the violence is packed into a few minutes makes it seem long) File:Why you should see Black Lion right now
