  • Off-hand is a weapon property. An off-hand weapon is light enough that you can hold it and attack effectively with it while also holding a weapon in your main hand. You can’t attack with both weapons in the same turn, unless you have a power that allows such an attack, but you can attack with either weapon.[PH:217][RC:270][HotFL:330][HotFK:332][MME:20]
  • Off-hand equipable items include shields, sword knots, icons, talismans, and off-hands specific daggers, axes, and short swords.
  • A character's off-hand is the hand which is not their main-hand. E.g. a right-handed person's off-hand is their left hand. This usually holds a shield for defence, but can hold an additional weapon for dual-wielding. All characters in NWN2 are right-handed.
  • The off-hand is the non-dominant hand, which is always the left hand in Neverwinter Nights. (For simplicity of animations, all characters are assumed to be right-handed.) The off-hand can carry a torch, shield, or a secondary weapon for dual-wielding. When dual-wielding, the off-hand weapon gets only half (rounded down) of a positive strength modifier as bonus damage. If the strength modifier is negative, the full penalty (not half) will apply. The off-hand weapon also gets fewer attacks in most (but not all) cases, which is one reason for not using one's best weapon in the off-hand.
  • The off-hand (aka off hand) is the secondary hand slot for weapons (dual wielding), shields, or other items that you are able wield/equip. The other hand is known as the main hand. * Information about an item will tell you if it can be used in the off hand. * For those with Dual Wield capability, weapons identified as main hand cannot be used in the off-hand slot. Only weapons identified as one-hand or off-hand can be used in the off-hand slot. Off-hand items cannot be used in the main hand slot. Weapons equipped in the off hand generally do 50% less damage than they would do when equipped in the main hand, and many players equip speedier weapons that hit quicker to mitigate this effect.
