The Russia national rugby union team is the national team of Russia. Rugby union in Russia is administered by the Rugby Union of Russia. Russia also has a Rugby Sevens team, who recently beat Australia 21-5 at the 2006 London Sevens Tournament, thanks to a hat-trick from Igor Galinovskiy. Russia previously played as the Soviet Union, and in the early 1990s, as a combined CIS team. Since 1992 however, they have been playing as Russia. The team has yet to qualify for a Rugby World Cup. They were even expelled from qualifying in 2003 due to issues with their player eligibility.
