| - I have a major question about these requests to join, and its one that needs discussion. Lots of these requests (like mine) have been denied on the grounds that the ppl nominated are unknown to the community. what i dont understand tho is how anybody is ment to become known to the community. I edit the wiki whenever possible tho i do not know much about the actual coding side of things. i join the on site chat and i guest in the CC in game whenever possible, and have contributed to yew grove discussions, yet how many of you can honestly say u know me. I really dont see how to get known then to spam peoples talk pages (which obviously isnt the way to go about it) i write this with no rage or bitterness or intent to flame i just wanted to get my POV across and who knows maybe you will read thid and come to know who i am :) File:Zaros symbol.png KDanger Talk RuneScape Wiki, Y U NO WORK 04:50, November 20, 2011 (UTC) Well, let me answer a question with a question. How did this, this and this guy become known? One or two forum posts don't make you an active yew grove participant. Look at your edit count and look at theirs. Look at mine if you're desperate. I'm not well known and I have about ten times as much as you. How can you say that you edit the Wiki whenever possible with only 117 edits? On your UP you wrote that you don't even know how to make an internal link. But same as above, this was written with no malicious intent. File:Zaros symbol.png KDanger Talk 12:16, November 20, 2011 (UTC) ps i should update my User Page to reflect the fact i can now make internal links like a baws :) Should add that RfETs don't require a high editcount -- the community is about more than numbers, and beyond that the Events Team doesn't have anything to do with content. On the other hand, the applicants should be very familiar with our community overall. Yoda and Raging Bull don't have 10,000 edits, but they are very active in the Clan Chat and the IRC channel. Special:Chat is up and coming, but still a lot of people don't go in there. If you want to get known in the community, come to lots of events, stick around in the Clan Chat for as long as you can, and check out the IRC channel. ʞooɔ 01:30, November 21, 2011 (UTC) A question on your point though (this is to cook): what if just like you, I spend loads more time on the Wiki than in RS because it's VERY laggy and can crash my PC (I'm not saying you have the same reason, it's just that you told me that in IRC very long ago)? Special:Chat, IRC, Twitter, Facebook, even Skype conversations are ways to get integrated with the community. There are lots of different ways that our users interact, and while in-game is one of the important ones, you can still be well-known without being in the Clan Chat or attending events. Still, like Fergie said, there wouldn't be much point in applying for the events team. And yeah, I used to have some whitescreen problems but that got fixed...somehow. Also, I really don't like that people are trying to get involved in the community for the sake of getting involved in the community, maybe to give them a bump when they request rights or something. You should hang out with these people because you like them and the subject. As hard as it is to have people dismiss you because they're not familiar with what you've done on the community, you just need to have patience that if you spend time really getting to know them, they'll like you and trust you. ʞooɔ 03:14, November 22, 2011 (UTC) Did you think I wanted to apply for this? Editting does do alot, and leave impression, but unless you were constantly on, and the editted articles stand too great of a quantity to become unnoticed, then you would, Talk pages such as this helps as well, what you want to do is leave an impression on someone, that your active, willing to work, and then you can be nominated -- File:Dragon longsword.png Cire04 TalkFile:Attack.png 02:03, December 10, 2011 (UTC)
