  • Grumpa Archibald Achielles was born to the parents of Garomor and Sallii Achielles in the Northern Human Kingdom of Gilneas. From an early age his parents could see like his older brother, Grumpa would be able to use the power of the Arcane. When Grumpa was six his younger sister Hilga was born and she was different to both Grumpa and Robert (Grumpa's order brother) in the fact that she was a Druid. During his childhood Grumpa held a closer relationship with Hilga rather than Robert. Something that would be shown later on in his life. As Grumpa grew older he found himself becoming more and more interested in the Arcane and kept showing his natural ability for it. His parents decided to send Grumpa to Dalaran to train under the Archmagi there so at the age of 12 he left Gilneas and went to train at Dalaran. Not much is known about Grumpa's training within Dalaran all that is known is that he trained under Archmage Aggrus Lightspear a Quel'dorei Archmage. It is clear that the pair had a strong bond and it has been rumored that Grumpa was taken to Silvermoon at one point to see the High Elven culture. While under the training of Aggrus Grumpa was also taught Alchemy and First Aid skills he still holds to this day. At the age of 23 Grumpa took time away from training in Dalaran and returned home to Gilneas and to his beloved villlage of Stormglen. When he returned to his home he found it broken and his parents dead on the floor. Hilga was on the floor in tears. Upon asking Hilga what happened he discovered that Robert, nor calling himself Froston murdered them. Grumpa at that point became head of the family. He and Hilga buried their parents in the graveyard in the Blackwald and on Grumpa's 24th birthday, Grumpa left Gilneas for the last time to hunt Robert down who had fled to the Kingdom of Lordaeron. On his way to Lordaeron Grumpa stopped in Dalaran and spoke with his old master. He informed Aggrus of the situation and told him what he intended to do. Aggrus told him not to kill him outright but force him to face trial. He said a phrase that Grumpa holds dear. 'Everyone deserves a trial no matter what the crime may be. Killing them without trial is murder.' When Grumpa asked him to go with him Aggrus agreed knowing that he would be an idea to watch his old student. The pair arrived in Lordaeron to find Robert. When they arrived in Brill they discovered that Robert had been living in the town. The pair quickly found him in the Inn and they chased after him deep into Trisfal Glades where a duel began. Robert and Aggrus square off after Grumpa was knocked into a tree knocking him out. When Grumpa awoke he found Aggrus being stuck down by Robert. Grumpa got up to his feet and dueled his brother. Grumpa quickly gained the advantage but could not deal the final blow. Aggrus was slowly dying but called out to his former student to use his staff. Grumpa took the staff and used it to defeat and kill Robert. With Robert slain Grumpa went to his old master's side. Aggrus was on only just holding on to life. Grumpa stayed at Aggrus' side tears rolling down his face. Aggrus requested that Grumpa bury his brother out of respect and to take him to Dalaran. Grumpa followed his master's wishes and buried his brother in the graveyard of Deathknell. Grumpa then took Aggrus back to Dalaran where a service was held for the Archmage. In the will Aggrus gave everything to Grumpa. His house in Dalaran, his staff and all his money and possessions. Grumpa at the age of 25 was an arcanist within the Kirin Tor. At this point he met the love of his life Susan. The two were married and had a single child between them, Grumpa was left heart broken as his beloved wife died shortly after the birth of his son Illidez. Grumpa was then left to raise his son alone. At the age of 33 the Second War began and Grumpa went to fight sending his 8 year old son to Gilneas to be taken into the care of Hilga. Grumpa served in Quel'thalas helping the Quel'dorei in the memory of his old master. During that time he earned the nickname 'Savage Fire' amongst the Trolls with the way he used their fire against them. A dark secret he holds within himself. When angered to this day his eyes glow red and uses nothing but fire magic. At the end of the war Hilga informed Grumpa that the Greymane wall was going to be built and Gilneas would leave the Alliance. She asked for him to return to Gilneas he responded. 'Gilneas may be my birthplace but my family and job lies within Dalaran. I cannot abandon them.' Illidez was returned to Grumpa and Grumpa sighed as his homeland was walled up away from the rest of the world. When the Undead Plague attacked the Northern Eastern Kingdoms just prior to the Third War, Grumpa stayed within Dalaran with his son Illidez. He would leave to visit Southshore once a week to get the sea air and to relax. He was here he met people who would later join Operation Torchlight and The Alliance Crusade. Grumpa and Illidez fought to defend Dalaran against the Scourge Assault, as now an Archmage of the Kirin Tor he fought tooth and nail to defend his home. However on the death of Antonidas, Grumpa knew it would be a matter of time before Dalaran fell to the same fate as Lordaeron. Thankfully both Grumpa and Illidez were underground when Archimonde destroyed Dalaran and when the pair finally returned above ground, Grumpa found himself holding nothing but hatred for demons and the Burning Legion. After the events at the World Tree and Admiral Proudmoore's attack on the Horde, Grumpa was sent west to Kalimdor to work with the kingdom of Theramore with establishing a portal there. It was there he met Operation Torchlight and served as the Kirin Tor ambassador there and rose to the Council of Leadership within the Operation. When the Dark Portal reopened and the threat of the Burning Legion came to Azeroth. Grumpa marched into Outland with Operation Torchlight to stop the Legion from getting into Azeroth. At the end of the Legion's failed invasion Grumpa stood as the last survivor of Operation Torchlight. He then returned to Dalaran to help the Kirin Tor. When the Nexus War took place Grumpa was one of the Archmagi stationed to hold the field protecting Dalaran from the attacks that the Blue Dragonflight were making. Following the death of Malygos he served in the War against the Lich King. Grumpa was shocked to learn that the Forsaken had begun to assault Gilneas and he also found out at this time. Froston had been raised as a Death Knight during the War against the Lich King but now had vanished without a trace. Knowing that he could not get involved in Gilneas he watched from afar with sadness. Soon after the evacuation of Gilneas to Darnassus. Grumpa found his younger sister Hilga and 2 nephews. All 3 had been infected with the Worgen Curse. Grumpa accepted them for who they were and the family relationship soon began to be repaired. When the World Pillar shattered Grumpa was sent to protect the Eathern Ring from the Twilight's Hammer Cult when they constanly attacked the Temple of Earth. When Deepholm was safe Grumpa returned to Azeroth and continued to serve the Kirin Tor. When the Kirin Tor agreed to help defend Theramore from the Horde, Grumpa stayed in Dalaran and was outraged upon hearing a Mana Bomb had been used to destroy the city with members of the Kirin Tor inside. Grumpa decided to reform Operation Torchlight knowing the Alliance and Horde would go on a war that would leave Azeroth defenseless against the Legion. He called upon those he had met 13 years earlier in Southshore. After Rhonin's memorial Grumpa recieved the blessing of the Kirin Tor to lead Operation Torchlight provided they remained informed.
