A user can extend and shrink the aura as they like, which allows them to extend the reach of their taijutsu. The aura also minimizes the damage of all Fire Release techniques by a small margin and can be used as armor to protect or deflect weak attacks and absorb a little bit of the force of stronger attacks. It allows increases the damage the damage of the user's physical attacks like kicks and punches. Lastly, it gives the user complete freedom with their movement and allows them to move effortlessly and fluidly through any environment. It does this by using the force of the moisture flowing into the body to mimic what its like to be underwater. For beginners this can slow them down a lot for the same reason why it is difficult to run through water.
