Among the greatest manses ever constructed, the Ivory Pillar is a five-dot Solar manse in the middle of the southwestern seas, as well as the tomb of Dax Stormslayer. It produces an as yet untested hearthstone. In the First Age, it was a refueling and repair facility (gas station) across the great expanse, and one of Shadow's Grace's favorite hangouts. Sometime during the Usurpation, however, the area was cast into a shadowland, but the power of the mighty Solar Manse withstood this and remained.

  • Among the greatest manses ever constructed, the Ivory Pillar is a five-dot Solar manse in the middle of the southwestern seas, as well as the tomb of Dax Stormslayer. It rises straight up from the very bottom of the ocean, a perfect cylinder of white marble and white and black jade. It is adorned with many pieces of Old Realm script, though most of these were added during the Shogunate to appease the spirit inside. Entrance is a complicated process; its door is hidden to normal sight, and it only allows the passage of Night Caste Solars or Day Caste Abyssals through the ground-level entrance. Once inside, it becomes apparent that the bulk of the pillar is merely a large hollow maintenance chamber. It has been laced with razor-sharp wires and concentrated beams of Solar Essence. At the top of this chamber is an entrance elevator mechanism that only allows nonliving beings through it. Once through that, there is a large circular hallway that has beams of Solar Essence zipping around it. At the far end from the elevator there is a doorway to the outside, which only opens from the inside. Once that door has been opened, the manse silently readjusts itself to hide the elevator, and by walking around the hallway again one can find a door to the top chamber. This top chamber is guarded by a sort of puzzle monster devised by the Dragon-Blooded in the Shogunate, a large hand composed of shadow that animates razor-sharp discs of each of the five elements as well as the four castes, excluding Night. By arranging the discs properly on the hand, the roof opens up to reveal the manse's hangar.
