Yusef Lateef, born William Emanuel Huddleston (Chattanooga (Tennessee), October 9, 1920 – december 23, Shutesbury, 2013) was an American jazz musician,multi-instrumentalist, composer, teacher and spokesman for the Ahmadiyya Muslim community. In addition to the tenor saxophone and the flute, oboe and Lateef played the clarinet, and further instruments particularly in the music world , such as the bamboo flute,shanai, shofar, the xun, argul, sarewa, and the koto. He was known for his innovative blend of jazz with Oriental music.
