The 1997 Sicilian Independence Referendum was the third referendum to ask voters in the United States province of Sicily whether Sicily should secede from the status of being a territory of the U.S. and become an independent state. The referendum took place in Sicily on October 30, 1997, and the motion to decide whether Sicily should secede from United States was won by a large landslide of: 24.55% "No" to 75.45% "Yes".
