- [Source] Stealth field generators, alternatively known as stealth generators, were special devices typically worn on belts that saw use primarily around the time of the Jedi Civil War and the years following it. Essentially a portable, personal cloaking device, stealth field generators made their users all but invisible at medium and long ranges; however, a clumsy user could be easily detected in close quarters. Also, unless a master of stealth, the user could not maintain the stealth field while running.
- Unfortunately for the Pirates, Dark Samus, in her raids on the Space Pirate mining facility for Phazon, crippled the generator. The Pirates feared detection by the Federation, although the one ship that was dispatched to Aether, the G.F.S. Tyr, lost its entire crew to Dark Splinters after crashing onto the planet. The Space Pirate starship it was pursuing also crashed, but the Pirates were able to salvage many things from the ship including a defense shield, and may have obtained a replacement generator as well.

| - Tactical scans have identified several new battle systems in the armor of Dark Samus. She now wields a potent variant of your Charge Beam. Her Boost attack has been augmented, and the ability to render herself invisible is present as well. Bioscans suggest that Dark Samus can reform her body short of total atomic disruption. Extreme caution recommended.
- The Dark Hunter teleports into the base at will. Our security has proven next to useless against her. Her latest raid was disastrous. Not only did we lose more Phazon to her, but she also crippled the stealth field generator with her strange new weapons. We are exposed.
- Until the replacement generator arrives, we will be vulnerable to scans and detection. Our presence here is still minimal: should the Federation find us, we will be unable to defend our position. Fortunately, Aether is on the fringe of Federation space. With luck, we will have a stealth field back in effect before being detected.

It is possible that Dark Samus absorbed some of the generator's technology. During the real Samus Aran's second battle with her, Dark Samus' Logbook entry states that she has a stealth field generator in her armor, which she uses during the battle to render herself invisible to the Combat Visor. The Dark Visor is able to counter this technology. Further Phazon mutation later into the game enables Dark Samus to become invisible to the Dark Visor as well, though Samus can still track her through the Echo Visor. The Space Pirates also used "planetary stealth technology" during Metroid Prime. It concealed their Glacier One base in the Phendrana Drifts, and their operations in the Phazon Mines. Its power was briefly interrupted when the Frigate Orpheon crashed onto Tallon IV, but it came back online before the passing battle cruiser Emmons was able to detect the Pirates.
