Eventually, with experience of leading Frostkeep to retake Fortress Sarwick and fighting off hordes of humanoids against Frostkeep, he grew as a person and became a competent and loved captain of the guard, who knew when to bend the rules and when to follow them. Though, few know for sure, it is rumoured among the guards that he authorized several secret missions without the Duke's knowledge on both Frostkeep and Tarloc soil, even allowing the villain Viser Rehtul to be rescued from jail to aid against Saelihn when the Duke wouldn't allow Viser to go. Although, he later sent mercenaries to re-capture Viser in Tarloc, but the attempt failed. During the Battle of Ashrin Crossing, Jando died after dealing the killing blow to Kheldom who had apparently returned to resume his enslavement of the Shores.
