The Hydran Keepership are an elite group within the Hydran Kingdom who are linked to the cults on Hydra who worship the Star-Beasts; space dwelling creatures that some have referred to as monsters. In order to effectively worship such majestic beasts, the Hydrans have created several Hydran Preserves where force fields keep the large animals contained to allow pilgrims to worship the animals. The Keepership are not conidered a politically important organization but their brave has earned them an honored place within Hydran society.

The Keepership was an order of starship captains dedicated to preserving the Star–Beasts and protecting the Star–Beast cults. They maintained the preserves, capture young Star–Beasts, and make certain they were held in livable conditions. Although the Keepership was not a particularly politically important order, their bravery was unquestioned and has earned them a place of honor in Hydran society. (TOS video game: Starfleet Command (game)) Also, the Hydran Keepership sought an artifact (or its secret thereof) that could allow them to have an infinite maximum evacuation capacity. It turned out to be an holodeck technique called Russian-doll holodeck.
