| - East 180th Street (originally East 180th Street–Morris Park Avenue) is an elevated station on the IRT White Plains Road Line of the New York City Subway. Located in the Bronx at the intersection of East 180th Street and Morris Park Avenue, it is served by the 2 and 5 trains at all times. After West Farms Square–East Tremont Avenue, northbound trains turn eastward and enter the S-curve to East 180th Street. This station has two island platforms and three tracks. The south end of the platforms has a staff-only bridge allowing access from the two platforms to the yard directly to the west. Current service patterns run through trains on the outside tracks. The center track, which can be accessed from either platform, is used for the 5 peak direction express service, off-hours Dyre Avenue Shuttle, short-turns, and special service. Shuttle trains open doors on both sides of the train, a rarity in the New York City Subway. The only other locations that this is common are Main Street–Flushing on the IRT Flushing Line and the lower level of 145th Street on the IND Eighth Avenue Line. Directly to the east of the platforms are the platforms of the old New York, Westchester and Boston Railway's 180th Street station; the trackways of this station are now used for train storage. The platforms there were used for the Dyre Avenue Shuttle when it was first implemented as part of the subway system in 1940. The original NYW&B station house on Morris Park Avenue is still in use as the main entrance to the station complex and also provides some office space. The NYW&B station is also home to a small convenience store and until recently to a New York City Transit Police precinct (which now has a building across the street from the station entrance). Until the 1980s, the East 180th Street station had escalators to street level via a mezzanine, which has been removed. A walk under the tracks will show where the original mezzanine was located. Presently, after exiting the fare control you walk east to exit via the old NYW&B stationhouse. A second exit leads to 180th Street. To the west of the station is the East 180th Street Yard and Maintenance Shop. The shop complex underwent major renovation in the 1990s in preparation for servicing the R142 cars. To the northeast is Unionport Yard and a signal tower. Just to the northwest of the station is the flyover connection that carries the soundbound track of the IRT Dyre Avenue Line.
