The Republic of Yakutia (Russian: Республика Якутия, Respublika Yakutiya; Yakut: Саха Республиката, Sakha Respublikata), commonly known as Yakutia (Якутия, Yakutiya), and known as Sakha (Саха, Sakha) by the natives, is a republic of the Soviet Union. Yakutia is the most recent republic to have been admitted into the Soviet Union, but has been part of the Soviet Union since its formation, and has had history dating back to the Russian Empire.
