The TIE Destroyer was the most common and abundant member of the Mustafarian TIE Series. Like all the series the design of the TIE fighter is taken, and made solid. Instead of being cheap and mass produced its mass produced with quality parts and equipment. The cockpit of the Destroyer was larger and more accommodating then the original TIE/ln starfighter. This allowed for the inclusion of life support systems, even if minimal. This allowed a pilot to remove their helmet in low risk patrols and for the cockpit to be warmed.

abstract
  • The TIE Destroyer was the most common and abundant member of the Mustafarian TIE Series. The fighter was heavily armed, with four times the fire power then the standard TIE. Four 'arm' mounted blaster cannons and four wing tip mounted lasers gave it impressive fire power on the forward arc. Like later TIE models it featured a shield system, but it was very light, comparable to the A-wing. Also like later models it featured a hyperdive, though it was slower then hyperdrives of Alliance fighters, and had a shorter range, but this was due to the limited space in the design. The wings were round, elliptical egg shaped, and concaved, allowing for more surface area without increasing the fighters width height or length over other Imperial ties. The design wasn't considered very aesthetically pleasing, but the rounded curves of the fighter was considered far more 'attractive' then Imperial designs. The Destroyer, along with the other members of the TIE Series were widely used during the Galactic Civil war, but afterwards, the Galactic Merchants Union focused more on other designs like the Star Hawk-class Interceptor and Kubaza-class variable geometry starfighter.
