| - __NOWYSIWYG__ A few weeks, the community merged "giant mecha suit" into "Spirit energy cannon" per VfD. Now that the last two episodes have aired, I think we should reverse that decision but call it "mecha-giant" per Shiro Shinobi. In light of new information, there some edits that can be expanded under mecha-giant but not under the cannon including the cockpit (and its wipers), the gun room, the generator room, the battles, etc., etc.. We can use the Fire Nation drill as template/reference for the new page. For you consideration. — Hasdi Bravo • 12:27, December 31, 2014 (UTC) If we would create this page, then I would at least suggest merging the spirit energy cannon with this page, since their entire purpose and history, save for a few events, is the same and there is no need to have them both. As for the name if consensus is to recreate this page, "enormous mecha suit" sounds more mature and more encyclopedic to me. It's also the most commonly used name on our articles. 20:12, January 1, 2015 (UTC) I agree with LL, though it does make more sense to have a page on the suit itself since it has more potential things to include. I would support the name "giant mecha suit" though, since that is what I've seen most often (and what I use to refer to the suit myself). Anyway, still retain my support to use "enormous" as opposed to "giant". 20:18, January 1, 2015 (UTC) I am inclined to leave the spirit energy cannon as a separate page from the "mecha giant" due to the small overlap. Under the history section, their only common history is the 5 (out of 9) paragraphs from "After its successful test, the cannon was attached to the right arm" until "Kuvira detected their sabotage and detached the cannon arm from the mecha suit after it was rendered useless." Even so, a lot of information on the giant is missing in the shared history, including the power room and the fight in the cockpit. The giant also has other means to fight, even after the cannon was ripped off. As for the naming, it was referred as "giant mecha suit", "mecha giant" and "giant" but not "enormous". I prefer "mecha giant" as the page name since it is technically not "mecha suit" or operated as one.
* Transcript:Kuvira's Gambit Asami: Apparently on a giant mecha suit! Korra: That spirit weapon of hers is attached to a giant mecha suit. Bolin: How are we supposed to fight an entire army, a mecha giant, and that crazy weapon? Korra: You're going to tell us how to stop that mecha giant, or else.
* Transcript:Day of the Colossus Shiro Shinobi: Can anything or anyone stop Kuvira and her mecha giant? Lin: I agree. We take down that giant today. Varrick: I know I can stop the mecha suits with an electromagnetic pulse, so it stands to reason that I can stop a giant mecha suit with a giant electromagnetic pulse. Asami: If we stop that mecha giant, it will all be because of you. — Hasdi Bravo • 03:46, January 3, 2015 (UTC) I'm quite aware of what was said in the episodes, hence me never saying that "enormous" was most used in the series; I said it was most used on this wiki on its pages -which is something entirely different. Since "enormous" and "giant" are synonyms, there is nothing wrong with -if we were to create this page- thus naming is "enormous mecha suit" as opposed to "giant mecha suit". 09:28, January 3, 2015 (UTC) The rationale for "giant" instead of "enormous" is to avoid the {{conjecture<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>}} template. — Hasdi Bravo • 17:04, January 3, 2015 (UTC) It was also referred to as "metal monster", though that doesn't mean that it's therefore its official name. Same with "metal giant" and "giant mecha suit", all names that have been used to indicate it. As such, "enormous mecha suit" wouldn't be any more conjecture than all the other descriptive names, because that's all they are, descriptive names. 17:07, January 3, 2015 (UTC) In lieu of an actual name, my preference is descriptive names used in the series, even if it is "metal monster" or "Combustion Man". Having said that, I am willing to concede to "enormous mecha suit" if we can still have the giant as a separate page. — Hasdi Bravo • 18:05, January 3, 2015 (UTC) Not really sure what you mean with "if we can still have the giant as a separate page". Why have a page for the giant and the enormous? 18:08, January 3, 2015 (UTC) I mean spirit energy cannon is a separate page from "enormous mecha suit" (aka "the giant", "giant mecha suit", "mecha giant", "metal monster", etc, etc). — Hasdi Bravo • 18:22, January 3, 2015 (UTC) There is enough difference between the Spirit Cannon and the Transport it was finally mounted on. As for what to name it, in the vacuum of an authoritative character (Kuvira, Bataar Jr, even one of the "bridge officers") giving it a Proper Noun I move that the episode title has done that job for us with (the) Colossus. Colossus has the benefit of cutting past any of the arguments above this comment with the need of collating varied mentions by characters who are not in the position to know or state its "official name". All the other less-authoritative and hyperbolic mentions should be made redirects to Colossus. --Love Robin (wall • contribs) 14:59, January 8, 2015 (UTC) I missed WS's support for separating the pages, so that's decided: two pages will be created created. EDIT:Confusion center, this is not true. Anyway, the current discussion is now "what will we name the page for the suit?" There is no proper noun to give it since the suit was never given an official name. The episode name could be an indication, but since that name was never used/acknowledged by anyway, it's too much of a stretch to declare that it's the official name -and thus a proper noun- of the suit. So using "colossus" -which also an option- does not have the problem-solving attributions that you say it has since it is in no way "more authoritative" than all the other options. As such, I retain my support for "enormous mecha suit" since "enormous" sounds just better than "giant" to me, more mature, if you will, and it is an equally descriptive name than "giant mecha suit". I am of the opinion the "mecha suit" should be used in the name, since that's just what it is. 15:09, January 8, 2015 (UTC) Will throw my personal support behind the "enormous" descriptor if that is indeed the more encyclopedic name to go with. 15:21, January 8, 2015 (UTC) Just wanted to clarify (because reading it over, what I meant with my opinion was very unclear), what I support is creating a unified page for the whole suit, which would include information for both the suit itself and the cannon. So I don't support creating two pages, I support creating a unified page with the suit being the focus. Sorry for the confusion. As for the name, I really don't find it a big deal, and if the majority supports "enormous" then I am fine with "enormous mecha suit" as well. File:Waterbending emblem.png Water Spout 21:22, January 8, 2015 (UTC) If separate pages are created, then I lean toward "giant" as an adjective, per Hasdi, as that's how it's been referred to in the series. -- 21:27, January 8, 2015 (UTC) I agree with WS, I think that it would be better to create a single page listing all the info. for the cannon and the suit. I agree that it should be "enormous" if the separate articles are created. 06:19, January 9, 2015 (UTC) My preference is a separate page but if we are going for a unified page, it should be restructured with the mecha as the focus. I am willing to yield on the naming. My main concern with the "enormous" adjective is the greater necessity of the {{conjecture<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>}} notice. Also, if Shiro Shinobi is the pseudo-narrator of the series, shouldn't his term "mecha giant" carry more weight than others? — Hasdi Bravo • 16:06, January 9, 2015 (UTC) Considering that this thing did not receive a proper name in the series, all names are descriptive. 16:12, January 9, 2015 (UTC)
