About: Deathspeaker Mask (3.5e Equipment)   Sponge Permalink

An Entity of Type : owl:Thing, within Data Space : 134.155.108.49:8890 associated with source dataset(s)

A cryptic mask which is eternally chilled to the touch, it is discomforting to wear, apparently carved from bone marred with signs of age and dirt, and riddled with disturbing necromantic runes all over the inside of the mask. In spite of the grim palor it emits, it is not evil and is a useful tool in communicating with the dead. When donned, the mask snaps onto your face with a crunch of bone and a baleful howl, and remains bound on your face until removed, hiding your facial features and replacing the eyes and mouth holes with voids of blackest pitch, your voice echoing from the pit as if far away.

abstract
  • A cryptic mask which is eternally chilled to the touch, it is discomforting to wear, apparently carved from bone marred with signs of age and dirt, and riddled with disturbing necromantic runes all over the inside of the mask. In spite of the grim palor it emits, it is not evil and is a useful tool in communicating with the dead. When wearing the mask you benefit constantly from the ability to see ethereal creatures, out to a range of 60 ft. The creatures are hazy phantoms which cannot interact with you generally. Attacks against them (if you can affect the ethereal plane) suffer a 50% miss chance from concealment. Three times per day as a standard action, the wearer may activate the mask's speak with dead ability, asking up to 3 questions per casting. You may also make intimidate checks against undead (intelligent or non-intelligent) in spite of their normal immunity, and gain a +2 insight bonus on social skill checks with intelligent undead, such as attempting to bluff a vampire. While the mask is worn you react negatively to turn and rebuke attempts. Effects which would turn or rebuke an undead of your HD cause you to be sickened for 3 rounds. Effects which would destroy or control you instead cause you to become nauseated. If you are undead or otherwise normally affected by turn/rebuke attempts this gives you immunity to your normal effects, this is in addition to them. Prerequisites: CL 6th; Craft Wondrous Item; command undead, chill touch; Market price 17,500 gp; 8,750 gp + 700 XP. Back to Main Page → 3.5e Homebrew → Equipment → Wondrous Items
