The cheese cauldron was a cauldron made of cheese. Its inventor, Humphrey Belcher, had high expectations for the invention, but it proved unsuccessful. Albus Dumbledore once referred to Humphrey Belcher and his invention when remarking on the possibility that some of his theories might be "woefully wrong".
