If you want to know what it looks like, picture a whip. Now, picture it being made out of metal and the part which isn't held being very, very sharp. The reason the urumi is not widely shown in media is partly because nobody has ever heard of it and partly because all the actors with enough hubris to think they can manage it are not smart enough to read the script.

  • Whip Swords, original from the Ivory Kingdoms, were longswords with a flexible whip-like blade. It was made of flexible lengths of steel that ordinarily were kept coiled and could be worn around the waist for the purpose of concealment. The urumi was considered one of the most difficult weapons to master due to the risk of injuring oneself.
  • A urumi was a whip-like weapon that fits around a person's waist like a belt. It can lash swords out of the hands of on coming enemies and then wound them badly. Lakshmi had this weapon when Jack Sparrow and Jean Magliore were visiting Sri Sumbhajee's palace for Shadow Gold.
  • A coil of steel, appearing to be similar to a coiled whip, the urumi (pronounced er-OO-mee) is a slashing weapon capable of carving up flesh as well as any sword. The coil is built for durability and flexibility, allowing it to hold a sharp edge, while still able to manipulate it’s shape as needed. A urumi can be used to attack opponents next to the wielder, or up to ten feet away.
  • The urumi hilt is constructed from iron or brass and is identical to that of the talwar, complete with a crossguard and frequently a slender knucklebow. The typical handle is termed a "disc hilt" from the prominent disc-shaped flange surrounding the pommel. The pommel often has a short decorative spike-like protrusion projecting from its centre. The blade is fashioned from flexible edged steel measuring three-quarters to one inch in width. Ideally it should be the same as the wielder's armspan, usually between 4 feet to 5.5 feet. Multiple blades are often attached to a single handle. Kyusuke's Urumi was only a meter long and had thirty two blades.
  • The Urumi Swordsman is an Indian infantry unit in Age of Empires III: The Asian Dynasties. It has a lot of hit points and dishes out high damage with a bonus against Heavy Infantry.
