The RG240 is one of only a handful of RG models with humbucker/single/single pickup configuration. It's also one of only a few RG models produced with a 22-fret neck. It had the sharp-edged body style which distinguishes it from the older Roadstar body. The RG240 features a basswood body bolted to a maple neck with a 22-fret fingerboard with dot inlays. Components included Ibanez pickups with a humbucker at the bridge and single coil pickups in the middle and neck positions and a double locking tremolo bridge with a locking nut. The RG240 was discontinued after 1988.

abstract
  • The RG240 is one of only a handful of RG models with humbucker/single/single pickup configuration. In 1987 the controls consisted of volume and tone pots with a 5-way pickup selector and a Duo-Sound coil-tap toggle for the humbucker. For 1988 the controls were revamped with a volume pot, and separate toggles for each pickup, with the humbucker toggle allowing a coil-tap functionality. The RG250 is a similar model with a flamed maple top and back. The RG340 is another somewhat similar model. The RG240 was discontinued after 1988.
