Curtis Barnes drew the attention of the homicide unit when his wife was murdered and he was the primary suspect. Sergeant James Doakes eventually tracked him down thanks to some army buddies and met him when he was on his docked boat in the harbor. After admitting that he killed his wife, Doakes attempted to arrest him, but Curtis would not surrender his gun, and Doakes shot and killed him in self-defense.
