Notably, the Spirit Plane was stated to be outside the reach and influence of the Void, and was inaccessible to Voidborn, although as evidenced by the priestess of the Void of Animus, Savelle Ulesari, it was accessible for a Logos. Time shifted differently within the Spirit Plane, with even weeks spent there comparative only to hours in the physical universe.

  • The plane is parallel to Gielinor and is inhabited by various spirits of nautre. It is an extension of the Underworld, that "seeps" through the surface, in which the dead are pulled through on the way to their respective afterlives. It shares with the underworld that it does not obey traditional laws of logic, and forms based on expectations or desires of the individual there, something originally hypothesized by Lady Hefin after Lord Amlodd spent a number of years living there.

abstract
  • The plane is inhabited by a wide variety of spirit creatures, some of which greatly resemble creatures native to other worlds, while others are unique. According to the Summoning experts Pikkupstix and Lord Amlodd, when someone summons a familiar using a pouch, one of the creatures inhabiting the Spirit Plane manifests itself in Gielinor as a shadow of itself. A race of sentient humanoids known as the Gorajo are known to inhabit the plane. Unlike most of the other residents of the plane, they can only be summoned within Daemonheim, as they have dedicated themselves to attempting to kill its creator. The Gorajo are known to accomplish being summoned to Gielinor using a process known as a 'spirit wake', which allows them to transfer conciousness to a spirit form on Gielinor. Although Gorajo who die in their spirit form do not die for real, they must rest afterwards due to sustaining wounds. Whether this is the same method that spirit creatures use is unknown. Some Gorajo are known to have travelled to Gielinor without the use of a spirit wake, such as the Ramokee Skinweaver. Lady Hefin speculates that the Spirit Plane does not always obey the normal laws of logic, and that when people from other realms travel there, it can act similarly to a dream and act out their subconscious desires. Lord Amlodd, who spent a number of years living in the Spirit Plane; disagrees with this theory. During his stay, he claims to have reigned as a king over some Steel Titans for hundreds of years.

The Amlodd clan believe that familiars are nothing more than manifest concepts - ideas brought to life through the power of anima. For example a spirit wolf comes into being from thinking about wolves and the idea of wolfiness. Another theory is that the spirit realm is merely an underworld for beings of limited consciousness. The former theory is most likely correct, as the mahjarrat Akthanakos created his Camel Warriors by making ugthanki tell stories of them.

Time shifted differently within the Spirit Plane, with even weeks spent there comparative only to hours in the physical universe. The Spirit Plane was noted as being a nearly impossible location to reach, even by entities at one with the Force in the Netherworld. The Kathol were known to have both knowledge and access to the Spirit Plane, as evidenced by the Infinity Tome, which utilized the Spirit Plane to impart information to the device's user. Epizon was the only known being inhabiting the Spirit Plane, although he also stated there were others within the dimension as well. Entities permanently inhabiting the Spirit Plane were naturally invisible to those that were not, and held a degree of control over the "environment" of consciousnesses. Epizon was capable of rendering himself visible to those whom he chose, could telepathically alter the landscape, and so long as the Infinity Tome was not destroyed, was eternal. It is unknown if the other inhabitants of the Spirit Plane also possessed immortality.
