The Battle of Agley was an engagement between the United Nations Space Command and the United Rebel Front on the Insurrectionist controlled planet of Victoria, the last stronghold of the URF. Colonel Karl Afeld, the successor to Howard Graves had gotten wind of the UNSC's intent to reclaim Victoria, and made preparations to face the UNSC in and around the city of Agley, where he hoped he would be able to cause them such casualties that they would no longer want to try and reclaim the planet.

abstract
  • The Battle of Agley was an engagement between the United Nations Space Command and the United Rebel Front on the Insurrectionist controlled planet of Victoria, the last stronghold of the URF. Using more austere methods of communication that he had put into practice after coming to power, Afeld was able to keep his plans secret from UNSC signals and electronic intelligence eavesdropping, as well as making erratic movements with his troops to confuse any images taken from overhead by ONI prowlers. On September 7th, the UNSC began landing troops, and for nine days, the two sides clashed in Agley, until it became obvious to Afeld that the UNSC was not going to pull out, no matter the cost. As a result, he fled the planet, eventually falling in with the New Colonial Alliance. Eventually, Colonel Nathaniel Wright took command, and ordered all units that could to escape, and those that could not to go underground and attempt to rejoin the Victorian Independent State. The battle continues to hold its place in history as the bloodiest single engagement between Insurrectionist and UNSC forces, with the exception of the Battle of New Tyne.
