The current canon policy explains very well the purpose of the My English Wiki; aiming to cover every material released by Marvel Studios and set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, also known as Earth-199999 within Marvel's multiverse. The canon policy also states that all material set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe is considered canon. With only one exception; when info contradicts a movie or TV serie. New policy for Comics All comics are non-canon unless they are provided with one of the following images: * "Marvel Cinematic Universe - official tie-in" stamp * "Netflix" logo

  • The current canon policy explains very well the purpose of the My English Wiki; aiming to cover every material released by Marvel Studios and set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, also known as Earth-199999 within Marvel's multiverse. The canon policy also states that all material set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe is considered canon. With only one exception; when info contradicts a movie or TV serie. However it is not clearly stated when something is set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This is impossible to know unless you're a part of the creators behind the Marvel Cinematic Universe. So we are dependent on the info we receive from the creators. Luckily a writer of the comics, did share us this info, backed up by "Marvel Studios" by providing the comics with a official stamp. Currently we are also adding info from comics to this wiki's articles which are only 'inspired' by the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Meaning that although these plots look like to be happening in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, they are actually happening in a different universe. The adventures that the characters in these inspired comics endure, don't actually happen to the characters which are set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Adding these inspired comics is in contradiction of the purpose of this My English Wiki. All the comics released by Marvel Studios are now added to this wiki, instead of only the comics which are set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Therefore i would like to change the canon policy for comics with the following statement. New policy for Comics All comics are non-canon unless they are provided with one of the following images: * "Marvel Cinematic Universe - official tie-in" stamp * "Netflix" logo The Donutman (talk) 18:48, March 22, 2017 (UTC) Before even addressing this, would you be so kind to tell us what universe are these comics set then, and what is your source for that answer?--Shabook (talk) 19:00, March 22, 2017 (UTC) I can't tell you in which universe these comics are set. However i do have some arguments that these comics aren't set in the MCU: * I believe the 'Marvel Cinematic Universe - official tie-in' stamp itself, to be a valid source. * Will Corona Pilgrim has confirmed in various tweets which comics are canon and which are inspired (If these are a valid source i will try to find as many as i can, but some are already deleted.) These comics confirmed by Pilgrim have all be provided with a 'Marvel Cinematic Universe - official tie-in' stamp. The other comics did not. * My 3rd source is the Guidebook to the Marvel Cinematic Universe which doesn't list any other comics, then confirmed by Pilgrim or a MCU red stamp. I would also like to add, that i'm simply trying to improve this wiki. If you really want that all comics released by Marvel Studios should be added to this wiki, i will drop this subject. The Donutman (talk) 19:33, March 22, 2017 (UTC) "I believe", "I don't know", "I can't tell you"... The admins are all aware of the "polemic" that it brings to collect all comics that some people, simply, don't like but: "If you really want that all comics released by Marvel Studios should be added to this wiki [...]" ―The Donutman Yes, that is exactly this wiki's goal.--Shabook (talk) 19:41, March 22, 2017 (UTC) I don't know which guidebooks did you read, Donutman, but some of them are full of references to the events that happened only in the comics without the red stamp (Guidebook to the Marvel Cinematic Universe - Captain America: The First Avenger references Captain America: First Vengeance, Guidebook to the Marvel Cinematic Universe - Captain America: The Winter Soldier references Captain America: The Winter Soldier Infinite Comic, etc.). Therefore, to the writers of those guidebooks those comics are canon, no matter if they are stamped or not. And if those comics are canon, that means the other comics without the stamp are canon too. The writers of the Jessica Jones comic said the comic connects the events of the the two TV series, Jessica Jones and Daredevil, therefore it's canon even without the red stamp. Looks to me like people at Marvel simply don't care about Pilgrim and his red stamp. As for adding all Marvel comics to this Wiki, of course we won't do that. We just have to be careful.--UskokS.H.I.E.L.D. Headquarters - Playground 19:52, March 22, 2017 (UTC) The comics you mention from the guidebooks are all collected in a trade paperback with the red stamp and are confirmed by Pilgrim. So these comics are confirmed in 3 different ways: guidebooks/red stamp/Pilgrim. So these should be added. The Jessica Jones comic and the reaction of the writers is why i included comics with a "Netflix" logo. The writers are leading in my argument, the stamp and netflix logo are just a easy way to easily divide these comics from the others. "As for adding all Marvel comics to this Wiki, of course we won't do that." ―Uskok I am not talking about all the Marvel comics, but all the comics released by Marvel Studios. "Looks to me like people at Marvel simply don't care about Pilgrim and his red stamp." ―Uskok I did not stated it was Pilgrim his red stamp but rather one from Marvel Studios. "The admins are all aware of the "polemic" that it brings to collect all comics that some people, simply, don't like.." ―Shabook It's not that i don't like the comics, i'm simply reasoning that not all comics are set in the universe. Sorry for not dropping the subject, despite my promise. It's hard to drop a discussion when people are still responding. Hence my earlier request for deletion. The Donutman (talk) 20:15, March 22, 2017 (UTC) Those trade paperbacks with the red stamp are also full of comics that are set on Earth-616 and Earth-1610, which clearly shows how irrelevant that red stamp really is. How can a comic set set on Earth-616 be an official MCU tie-in? The only possible answer is this - it can't. Unfortunately, that red stamp has become a joke that's doing nothing but creating trouble. The current policy is simple and it works best for the Wiki.--UskokS.H.I.E.L.D. Headquarters - Playground 20:43, March 22, 2017 (UTC) Those older comics from Earth-616 and Earth-1610 are easy to recognize as totally different stories. In the synopsis of these trade paperbacks, they describe these older comics as "classic stories", "comic book history", "stories that inspired the film" and "relive" older comics. Yet, most of the time the synopsis don't describe them at all. So, admittedly the difference isn't explained in the trade paperbacks. "The current policy is simple..." ―Uskok I agree.
