Paul Stassino was a Greek Cypriot actor who played Miklos Zadic on Coronation Street in 1968. Born in 1932 in Platres, Cyprus he grew up in Limassol and moved to the UK when he was twenty. His family wanted him to be a lawyer but he wanted to be an actor. He deceived his family that he was going to Britain to study law and instead entered RADA, despite speaking little English. However he continued to read law at night for one year, but then gave it up and concentrated on acting. Often playing villains, his other credits include the 1965 James Bond film Thunderball, The Saint, Department S and Jason King.

However he continued to read law at night for one year, but then gave it up and concentrated on acting. Often playing villains, his other credits include the 1965 James Bond film Thunderball, The Saint, Department S and Jason King. In the 1970s he directed the casino in Athens, and then because of his great passion for his country he returned to his birthplace Cyprus, where he worked in the Public Theatre of Nicosia, not only as an actor but also he directed on stage. He stayed in Cyprus thereafter, and when he retired he moved back to his beloved city Limassol, where he died on 28th June 2012 and is buried in the cemetery Sfalagiotissa in Limassol. He was married twice, and had three children: Julian, Alex and Elvi.
