Although it's been almost 12 months since the school board voted in favor of building new as opposed to renovating the current, eight-building campus or extensively renovating it, the district is still waiting for a variance from the municipality. It has been twice denied -- the land is currently not zoned to allow for a new building or renovation that would expand the size of the current buildings by more than 25 percent -- and the matter is now in the Allegheny County court system.
