Gordon Marsland was a left half who spent two years with Rovers between 1969 and 1971. He was signed from Carlisle United for a fee of £6000, but his time at Rovers was not hugely successful, making just 16 league appearances in two years. He was loaned out to Crewe Alexandra and Oldham Athletic during the 1970-71 season, and at the end of that year he retired from league football and joined Bath City. He died at home in Blackpool on 4 January 2009, at the age of 63.

He was loaned out to Crewe Alexandra and Oldham Athletic during the 1970-71 season, and at the end of that year he retired from league football and joined Bath City. Gordon was born in Blackpool in 1945, and joined Blackpool as an apprentice in September 1960, signing his first professional contract on 15 May 1962. He was transfer listed in May 1965, and joined Carlisle that Summer, going on to record 66 league appearances for the Cumbrians, scoring four goals in the process. He died at home in Blackpool on 4 January 2009, at the age of 63.
