Also that year, she played the Ethel McCormack in Footloose. A San Diego, California native who also spent her early years in upstate New York, Pennsylvania, and Michigan, McCain graduated from Ripon College with a BA in Philosophy and then studied acting for three years at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London, England. She played Nurse Judy in the 1998 film Patch Adams which included Norman Alden as a truck driver and Michael X. Sommers as a psych patient. McCain reprised her role as Lynn Peltzer from Gremlins for LEGO Dimensions which also saw Christopher Lloyd and Michael J. Fox reprising their roles from the Back to the Future trilogy
