Reporter's printing press was an invention created by Handy Smurf that appeared in both the comic books and the cartoon show. In its comic book appearance in "The Reporter Smurf", it was created when Reporter Smurf had the desire to report the news as it happened in the Smurf Village so that the Smurfs would get the facts straight on stories that they have heard. Handy was inspired by seeing Baby Smurf creating imprints in the sandbox with his baby blocks, and so Sculptor helped him by creating a set of alphanumeric stamps that Reporter could place on a tablet before placing ink on it and then placing a sheet of paper on top of the tablet under the press. The printing press had to be operated by hand as it used a turning crank, so Reporter hired Greedy Smurf to be the press operator in exchange for allowing him to use the printing press as a big nutcracker. With this, the Smurf Village newspaper was born and continued to be in publication until the end of the story. In the cartoon show episode "All The News That's Fit To Smurf", the printing press made its debut as an automatic printing press that Reporter Smurf would eventually use to publish the Smurf Village's newspaper. In the episode "Clockwork's Powerplay", it would be upgraded to running on the windmill's power.
